For the Football Outsiders community
A note from Aaron.
On the return of the FO archive—and what comes next.
Hey everyone,
I have some good news to share.
Football Outsiders is coming back.
We're officially bringing the Football Outsiders website back online as an archive, making two decades of FO articles, analysis and research available again. Football Outsiders is not relaunching as a new publication. My current DVOA ratings, analysis and writing will continue to be available at FTN.
I'm also excited about what’s coming next.
I've partnered with Advantg, a new football betting intelligence platform powered by DVOA from FTN.
If you've followed Football Outsiders, you already know the idea behind DVOA:
Not all yards, plays, opponents or situations are created equal. Context matters.
Advantg takes that same analytical approach into the betting market.
It evaluates games and potential outcomes in real time, compares its own probabilities against the odds available at sportsbooks, and looks for places where the price being offered doesn't match what the numbers say the bet should be worth.
During a live game, Advantg evaluates every play 100,000 times in about 10 seconds, recalculating as the game changes and the sportsbooks react.
The question isn't just: Who's going to win?
It's:
What should this bet be worth right now, and is a sportsbook offering a better price?
That's the idea behind Advantg, and one of the reasons I'm excited to be working with the team.
I'll have more to share about Advantg, DVOA and what we're working on as the season progresses.

It's great to have the Football Outsiders archives coming back online.
And I'm excited about what's next.
