Another one of our friends, Gregg Rosenthal at PFT/Rotoworld/NBC, notes that the Redskins have added offensive tackle Levi Jones, formerly of the Bengals.
Among starting players, Jones might have been the worst player in football last year.

Before running down DYAR numbers from Super Bowl XLIV, Bill Barnwell gives his thoughts on Sean Payton's aggressive and intelligent play calls.

Re: Redskins Sign Levi Jones
Well, the Redskins were probably looking for someone who could fit their system (a.k.a. "suck horribly") right away.
Re: Redskins Sign Levi Jones
Awesome.
Though I was wondering if Indy would show interest in him. They don't necessarily suck at OT, but the drop-off to suckage is not as far off as some might think when casually looking at Manning's stats. Two sacks? The OT must be great! Um, yeah, whatever.
I wonder how Levi is at ST play....
Re: Redskins Sign Levi Jones
This is a tremendous side-grade for the Redskins O-line.
Re: Redskins Sign Levi Jones
He's not a long term fix, but the Redskins need quasi-professional players on their offensive line right now...and to stop having 5 running backs on the roster when they play 2 in the runing game(Portis/Betts) and one on special teams(Cartwright)...
This doesn't change my current projection for Redskins wins the rest of the year (zero).

It's fantastic the Redskins can offer him a chance to compete for that distinction this year amongst the peers most likely to threaten him for it.
Re: Redskins Sign Levi Jones
We have a winner!
Re: Redskins Sign Levi Jones
Nah. As Giants fans started to realise on Sunday, the only reason Jones may have been the worst starter in football last year is because CC Brown was on IR.
Re: Redskins Sign Levi Jones
He'll probably end up replacing the guy who may be the worst starter in the NFL this year in Stephon Heyer or the guy who's been retired and 8000 lbs (approx) a few months back in Mike Williams. Even the worst tackle of last year is probably a step up at this point for the Redskins at this point.
Re: Redskins Sign Levi Jones
As a Seahawks fan, I'm jealous.
Re: Redskins Sign Levi Jones
That seems to speak volumes: imagine how bad Levi Jones must be given that Seattle hasn't already signed him. They prefer their own practice squad players to Levi Jones.
At least, I prefer to think that over "you mean an offensive tackle with starting experience was available as a free agent, and the Seahawks ended up starting a guy they picked up from the practice squad?!" I know that one team's starter is another team's scrub, but after Sunday's performance . . . yeesh.
Re: Redskins Sign Levi Jones
NFC East teams seem to be hypnotized by the siren song of former Bengals OTs. Stacy Andrews, Levi Jones...these sub-par players will only dash your costly ships on the cruel rocks of reality. What's next, Willie Anderson to the Cowboys?
Re: Redskins Sign Levi Jones
Oh god.
Re: Redskins Sign Levi Jones
I officially transfer my allegiance to the Ravens. I can't take it anymore. I'm for the purple and black as long as Snyder owns the team.

Re: Redskins Sign Levi Jones
weirdly, i'm more bemused than distraught by the skins' suckitude. the fact that they have played the rams, lions, bucs, panthers, and chiefs in the last five weeks, and gone only 2-3, is really incredible. i thought for sure their next game would be against a division I-AA club.
Re: Redskins Sign Levi Jones
wasn't levi jones good once?
Re: Redskins Sign Levi Jones
Yeah, actually. I remember the Bengals being laughed at for taking him so high in the draft, but he was able to validate the pick with his play for a while. Injuries got the better of him.
Re: Redskins Sign Levi Jones
Isn't he the one that Joey Porter attacked in Vegas?
Re: Redskins Sign Levi Jones
Levi Jones is a Pro Bowl player....except that he has the knees of an overweight, female pipefitter.
He played at a very high level for aout 3 years and then his knees said goodbye.
He should be servicable for the Redskins. He will keep Campbell from being killed but is not so good run blocking.
